Seth Koch and MusiCoLab founder Barbara Bellman, married for twenty-one years, shared a rich life that included a mutual love of theater and storytelling. Seth didn’t just enjoy the stage — he loved to act in community theater and was a founding member of the Shelburne Players in Shelburne, VT, where his enthusiasm and commitment helped shape a welcoming local arts community. For Seth and Barbara alike, theater was a source of joy and connection that enriched both their personal lives and their creative journeys.
Professionally, Seth was a pioneering figure in the field of veterinary ophthalmology and was widely regarded as one of the leading practitioners in his specialty. Yet those who knew him best remember not only his brilliance and dedication, but his generosity of spirit and his unwavering support for the people and pursuits he cared about most.
When Barbara retired from a successful career in advertising and made the bold decision to pursue graduate study and a professional life as a musical-theater writer and producer, Seth embraced that unconventional path with enthusiasm and pride. The Seth Koch Memorial Producer’s Fund honors that spirit of belief and encouragement by supporting the development of new musicals and the artists who create them. Gifts to this fund help ensure that Seth’s legacy lives on in the work he loved and in the creative courage he so deeply championed.
