Submit your work for our next New Works Showcase!

We are delighted to announce that we will be holding our next New Works Showcase on Monday night, November 25 at The Drake. In this event, we present brief excerpts of new works by local creators in a concert-style presentation.

We invite you (and your collaborators, if applicable) to apply to showcase up to ten minutes of your original work in our tenth showcase.

We’ll select 6-8 works to be presented, and you’ll be notified later in October if you’ve been selected.

Showcase Submission Guidelines

Submission Guidelines

When sending your application for one of our showcases, please be sure to include all of the following information and materials (please pay close attention to word counts and other specific requirements):

TITLE of show
TITLE(S) of songs (maximum of 2, must be able to be sung by 2-4 performers at most). Please list them in the order you would like them performed, and include the names of characters in each scene/song.
NOTE: If you feel strongly about submitting something with a larger cast, please email us in advance of the deadline to give us detailed specifics, and we will tell you whether we can consider it for the showcase.
Musical style(s) of song(s)
Character descriptions (approximate age, gender, race, vocal range)
Optional but encouraged: brief scenes from your play that precede each song and put them into context
Approximate running times of songs/scenes (maximum 10 minutes total). You will have two additional minutes to introduce your show and songs)
Brief SYNOPSIS of show (maximum 200 words), including context of songs, to read at the beginning of your presentation
BIOS of all collaborators (maximum 100 words each)
Email and phone number for creator(s)
Demo recordings of your songs (these don’t have to be fancy or fully orchestrated! Even voice memos are sufficient)
A digital piano-vocal score of your songs for both accompanist and singers. While scores with complete piano accompaniment are preferred, complete vocal scores will be accepted so long as you also provide us with a sample of a full piano-vocal score you have created in the past, and commit to having your full piano-vocal score completed by Monday, November 11 if selected. **Please pay special attention to:
- Ensuring that your score can be played as written by a piano accompanist.
- Putting all cues and underscored dialogue into the score itself.
- Noting tempi, correct rhythms, dynamics, articulations etc.
- If you do not have a piano-vocal score and are unable to make one, let us know and we’ll try to help you find someone to help.
